Privacy Policy

What information is collected?
The information (data) you provide to Computer Start whether verbal or written is used for the purpose of contacting you in order to provide the service you have requested. This data may include personal information such as your name, telephone number, email address and an address for us to meet with you.
Computer Start staff may make notes about the session/service provided which may include what the aim of the session is and what was completed/not completed within the session, it may include some notes of events/information we will have discussed within or outside of the session but will not include any personal characteristics such as age, ethnicity, marital status. You may view these notes within a session via a verbal or written request any time. This does not affect your rights to make a freedom of information request.
Consenting to share personal information
Our legal basis for collecting and processing your data is varied and does not always require explicit consent. Data such as name and contact numbers for us to contact you for invoicing or arranging appointments does not require further consent other than you giving us this information, this data will be held for period of 1 year after the last known contact after which it will be deleted with the exception for copies of invoices which may be kept for legal reasons for a period of 7 years.
If you would like to be on our mailing list or wish to take part in a survey, you will need to give us explicit consent which will require a name (to allow the mail to be personalised) and an email address to send the mail to; no other information is held for this purpose. You can opt in and opt out of this list at any time by emailing us at anita@computerstartyork.com or using the opt-out button/link on the email sent to you.
We will not harvest data from any source other than that you have given us explicit permissions to do so. We will not share your data with any third parties without your explicit permission unless we are required to do so by law.
How do we keep your personal information safe?
Data for mailing lists are held digitally with MailChimp. This data is secured in a password protected account and accessed only via a secure network.
Data for personal contact details such as name, address, phone number and email, notes pertaining to each session and invoicing, are all stored electronically in a password protected environment accessible only via a secure network.
How do we use your personal data?
Contact data to provide you with the appropriate service Email data to provide twice yearly mailing via Mailchimp. Their privacy policy link is: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/ Records of the session are held to improve our service to you and remind us of what has been covered in the previous session.
Who do we share data with?
Unless we are required to do so by law eg for crime prevention we do not share your data with any third party without your explicit consent.

The GDPR provides the following rights for individuals: 1. The right to be informed of what data is held about you 2. The right to know why this data is held 3. The right to see any data held about you free of charge 4. The right to rectification if the data held is not or is no longer correct 5. The right to erasure 6. The right to know how long your data is held 7. The right to restrict processing so it is not given to third parties (unless required by law) 8. The right to data portability – copies requested must be sent in a commonly read format eg a pdf format. 9. The right to object if you feel the data held is not accurate or is misleading 10. The right not to be subject to solely automated decision making or profiling data creation without safeguards
